Deploying Seismology Equipement Pacific Northwest Seismic Network

The PNSN gathers and interprets seismic data from the Pacific Northwest to study volcanoes, subduction, crustal faulting, and urban hazards. Recent studies have focused on understanding non-volcanic tremor, mapping the influence of the deep basins on shaking in urban centers, and tracking the myriad manifestations of volcanic unrest.

Global Seismology

The group studies diverse topics from the physics of earthquakes to the Earth's deep interior, including inner core structure and rotation, the inner soul of subduction, and the intimate relations of stress and shaking and creep on fault rheology.
