The 2017 Honors and Awards Ceremony was held on Thursday May 18th at 3:30 pm in JHN-102, hosted by ESS Chair Bruce Nelson. There were numerous honors, awards, and scholarships given during this ceremony before adjourning to a reception in the Johnson Hall Courtyard.
The major awards from the 2017 ceremony are :

- Merrill Prize for Excellence : Mary Alice Benson
- Coombs Excellence in Teaching Award : Keith Hodson
- Johnston Prize for Research Excellence : Landon Burgener, Jillian Schleicher
- Faculty Teaching Excellence Award : Fang-Zhen Teng
- Barksdale Service Award : Nathan Briley
